This year, the largest university sports event was attended by 1,250 student athletes from 22 universities in 14 sports and took place from May 14 to 19. The event was organized by the multi-sport university federation AUS "Academic" and hosted by the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) , with the partnership of the Vasil Levski National Sports Academy(NSA), the Technical University of Sofia and the University of Forestry.
The NSA educational and sports facility hosted the competitions in nine sports - the final phase and finals in volleyball, basketball, football, as well as kickboxing, sports orienteering, tennis, badminton, cricket and cheerleading.
Cricket made a successful debut at the national student level. The men's final four and the women's final were held within the framework of the National University games Sofia 2022. Participating teams and results:

A very interesting and contested tournament for men. The first three teams were very well prepared and played excellent and dramatic games. The winners of the T10 Tournament were the students from MU Sofia, who left no doubt that they are the best team. We must also take into account the fact that five of their competitors could not participate due to commitments with our national T20 team, which at that time was participating in Malta in the international tournament Valetta Cup 2022.
Excellent progress and very good play were shown by the teams of the MU Pleven and the Thracian University - Stara Zagora. They already have teams that can intervene in the distribution of prize places and in the State Championships.
The finalist teams in the women's tournament were a pleasant surprise. They showed a lot of desire to play and surprising technical skills. I expect that in the fall the number of women's teams will increase significantly and reach that of the men's teams.
I cannot but express my gratitude to the management of the ASU "Academic", who have shown and demonstrated in practice the commitment of the Association to the specific needs and requirements of the students, as well as to the implementation of activities that are fully consistent with the program for the development of university sports in Bulgaria. I wish fruitful work in the future, because in countries with developed university sports, cricket occupies a leading place and we must shorten the distance with these countries, because we were and must again be a leading sports nation," commented Prof. Nikolay Kolev, founder of BF Cricket, on this first-of-its-kind event.
