19 July 2022

The State T20 Championship (the Olympic version of cricket), which is included in the 2028 Olympic Games, has ended. 8 teams participated and the semi-finals according to the ESC regulations and the final match were held.

In the first semi-final, the teams of the Indo-Bulgarian Cricket Club /IBCC/ and CC The State T20 Championship / the Olympic version of cricket, which is included in the 2028 Olympic Games, has ended. 8 teams participated in it and the semi-finals according to the ESC regulations and the final match were held.

In the first semi-final, the teams of the Indo-Bulgarian Cricket Club /IBCC/ and CC Academic met. In this match, CC Academic had no problems against the students of the medical academy, who are a large part of the CC Academic team. They won the match by 74 runs, and their captain Prakash Mishra made the remarkable achievement of 85 runs and 2 wickets and confirmed his result for MVP for the entire season.

The second semi-final was between the teams of CC Berberians and CC Ulysses / composed entirely of students from the Thracian University of Stara Zagora, who won the match by 20 runs and this gave them the right to play an elimination match with CC Academic to participate in the final.

In this elimination match, the Students from Sofia performed significantly better and won by 9 wickets.

The final match was a repeat of the first semi-final IBCC vs. CC Academic. The match was again dictated by IBCC, who won the cup and the gold medals by a difference of 40 runs. This is the first championship title of IBCC in T20 and it proved the progress of this team this year. After participating in the European Cricket League in Spain in February, the European Cricket Series won in Sofia in April this year, the state championship was their third trophy of the year. A very good performance by their captain Prakash Mishla, who became the Most Valuable Player of the Championship / MVP /.

For another year, BCF uses the CricHeroes platform to register all its official matches for men and women.

This gives us the opportunity to make comprehensive analyses of each inning, match, tournament and for the entire year. Some interesting data from the system for this year:

  • in the 23 recorded matches, 6169 runs/points were scored, 266 wickets and 95 catches/catches of the ball were made;
  • 214 sixes and 586 fours were hit;
  • 24 times batsmen have scored over 50 runs in the championship games  and once over 100 runs were scored in a match. In six matches, the partnership of the batsmen has brought over 100 runs for their teams;

"It is still early to analyze the year, but the past championship was one of the good things that happened in 2022 for the Bulgarian cricket. The level of the participating teams has increased, there is no dominance of one team as it was in the past, the strengths of the first four teams are equal and all this also has a positive effect on the game of our national team. The fact is that IBCC became the state champion for the first time, the team of CC Ulis won medals from the state championship for the first time, and the two-time champion in previous years - CC BSKS could not even take a medal. I hope that this will mobilize the Plovdiv medical team for the remaining tournaments until the end of the year, because we rely on them and their players in our national team," briefly shared Prof. N. Kolev, founder and CEO of BF Cricket.
